On Thursday, June 11, the Centro Cultural Contraviento inaugurated the exhibition “Silence, until fitting in the voice of the river” by Sebastián López Brach. The artist was present and spoke with the attendees.
The photographer from Rosario exhibits in Contraviento a series of works that capture fleeting moments of the water, the wetlands and the river.
Where does this story begin?
In the water, maybe, where it all begins. Or in the flight, in the desire for the river to return us different, more ourselves.
I once had a blue dream, there was a river there. Reflections of fish and moons crossed it. The sound of its course stays with me, a murmur that follows me. This river witnessed stories, myths and silences of a network of wetlands inhabited for centuries.
In this work, water becomes skin and the course becomes voice. Like fresh water that springs from the earth, memories emerge to the surface only to be found, dragged through a territory in eternal transformation.
The river is a boundary and a home. First, an escape. Then, shelter. Until one day we stop running away and just stay. We are not the same ones who stepped on the shore. Now, the river names us, takes us, returns us.
Silence, until fitting in the voice of the river.
