The Centro Cultural Contraviento inaugurated the exhibition “60 Posters Celebrating Planet Earth”, with the presence of its curator, Felipe Taborda, which unfolds throughout the ground floor of the cultural space.

The exhibition opened simultaneously with “Fish of the Wind,” by Víctor Cittá Giordano, the cultural space's first outdoor exhibition, on Thursday, September 18.

“60 Posters Celebrating Planet Earth” is an exhibition of official Brazilian government posters for the 1992 United Nations Conference on the Environment and the 2012 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, held in Rio de Janeiro.

The series of pieces, by prestigious designers from around the world, is an invitation to consider the changes in the way in which we relate to the planet. Brazilian designer Felipe Taborda oversees the curatorship, and the installation was possible thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Brazilian Embassy, the Guimarães Rosa Institute, and Contraviento.

“Neither design nor art are going to change the world, but they are essential for opening our eyes,” stated Felipe Taborda, curator of the exhibition.

“This 60-poster collection is just a small drop of water in this universe to try to protect the environment, which is a disaster today. It's not a communist invention ?it's a fact. Pollution continues to increase, in fish, in rivers, like the Paraná,” said Taborda.
