The Centro Cultural Contraviento joins the commemoration of Day of the Malvina’s War Veterans and Fallen with a photographic exhibition about the memorial that honors them at the Parque Nacional a la Bandera and portraits of veterans.
This exposition by César Arfeliz, named just “Malvinas”, falls within the cultural center's Homelands theme, but with a unique pursuit.
“What I’m trying to convey is what happens in that space every day, where people come, take photos, and spend some time... they share a connection,” says the experienced photojournalist.
The opening exhibition will be on Thursday, April 9th at 7:00 pm at Rodríguez 721, with free admission.
“The idea with the portraits is to reflect the internal 'post-war' experience that each of the soldiers had to face. They are like maps of living memory.”
Arfeliz goes on to explain: “With the touch of our fingers on the 649 printed names, everything becomes more real, and we begin to see people with surnames that could be our very own. It is at that moment that the most affectionate thing we have emerges: the feeling of homeland.”
